A side in math is defined as the line segment that connects two vertices (points) in a two-dimensional shape or geometrical figure. These line segments join together at vertices to form shapes like triangles, squares, and rectangles. Without lines to connect points, we would not have any shapes at all.

Sides play a crucial role in classifying polygons. A polygon is a closed shape made up of three or more line segments. We name these shapes based on how many sides they have, for example, a triangle has 3 sides, a quadrilateral has 4 sides, and a pentagon has 5 sides. When all sides of a polygon are equal in length, we call it a regular polygon, such as an equilateral triangle with three equal sides or a square with four equal sides. rectangle
